Listen with a better voice

The read-aloud button uses the voice installed on your own device. It only plays with a premium, enhanced or natural voice. Install one in a few minutes:

iPhone & iPad

  1. Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → English.
  2. Choose a voice marked Enhanced or Premium (for example Serena or Daniel, UK) and tap the download arrow.
  3. Select it, then reload this site in Safari.

Mac

  1. System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content.
  2. Next to System voice, choose Manage Voices… and tick an Enhanced or Premium English voice.
  3. Choose it as System voice, then reload the page.

Android

  1. Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech output (Samsung: General management → Text-to-speech).
  2. Preferred engine: Speech Services by Google. Tap the gear → Install voice data → English.
  3. Download a voice, then reload the page in Chrome.

Windows

  1. Open the site in Microsoft Edge (natural voices built in), or in Google Chrome (Google voices built in).

Menu names can differ slightly per device and system version. Reading happens on your own device; nothing is recorded.
